Maybe it is not the very first time people made a post about things that make them happy, but I'm in this mood to write sorta things (most of them are simple things) that always helps making me happy, for a moment or even all day.
1. Seeing my parents after an extremely busy day, kissing my Mom in forehead, and punching my Dad's arm as if we're bros.
It makes me happy because there had been time when my Mom got serious illness that she had to rest in the hospital. I remember went back to empty home, no one to kiss and no one to punch and laugh and debate. Believe me, one of best thing in life is going back home in the evening after an irrationally hectic schedule and see your parents feeling happy and fine.
2. Listening to my old favorite song, singing it loud or even recording it just to remind me that I'm a sucker at singing.
Oh yeah, it is a good thing to do. No matter how wrecked your voice is, or how you sometimes screw the lyrics and rhythms, it's just feels relieving to sing as if no one is listening. Singing in the shower works too (and by the way, you'll sound differently so you could record this one too).
3. Sniffing at new books.
I love the smells! The fresh papers probably have the same chemicals in petrichors, it creates an instant happiness. It adds extra happiness when you finish reading it and turns out it is a reaaallyy good book.
4. Have a good morning coffee.
You might call me mainstream but I am a caffeine addict. Even though I learned that coffee has bunch of unpleasant side effects, I still depend myself a bit too much to coffee. Every sip means heaven. I love how a cup of coffee keeps me alive and sane, makes my brain focus yet burst of thoughts at the same time. Coffee means happy. No doubt.
5. Hanging out with my best-soul-friends ever, Firda and Vini.
We are together since yeaarsss ago, and they know me like the back of their hands. We have gone through almost all kind of stages, and every moment with them still feels like magic. Sometimes we do things like play cards and monopoly, write journals, plan things, cook like a masterchefs, watch random movies and get bored, play sims, etc but most of times we just sit side by side and have a never-ending conversation. Even talk to them via bbm boost my happiness.
6. Having a night city tour.
By riding a motorcycle or driving a car, with or without companion, this activity is my favorite. Pontianak is a small city that sparks at night, I enjoy looking up at the streets and buildings (I like the old ones at Tanjungpura streets), watching people do their business, and feeling the atmosphere. I can say that Pontianak at mornings till afternoons' weather is not quite enjoyable because it's either hot or rain a lot. But in the evenings, the air just feels different.
7. Chatting with my cousin, Fitri, via everything possible.
She's my person. I talk to her about anything that crosses my thoughts; the biggest or smallest, the most important or silliest thing that occurs in my mind. And because we are always separated (sad, I know), she lives there I live here, technology is one of thing we rely the most to keep the communication going. Even though she proclaimed herself as a dark and twisty, she is my mood booster, a weight lifter that always cheers up my day. Sometimes we could be Mer and Christina that is scary and damaged, freaky and awkward-cursing at people or life in general, but other times we could be Max and Caroline that is balanced each other by being pessimist and optimist. I flew her a plane, she brought me parachutes--just in case. Sort of that.
8. Drowning to my bed doing nothing or just thinking all day.
I call this as an acceptable lazy thing. Beside, thinking and daydreaming makes me happy, but note that I don't do it often.
9. Writing.
I am not an official writer because I write on-off-ly. But when I write, I find joys (Oh and I really love it when people read and appreciate my writings, made me smiles ear to ear).
10. "How was your day?" from someone I love after a tiring day, someone who really cares and always wants to make sure that I am okay.
Always, always works :)
